Sunday, November 21, 2021 It was such an honor to welcome international star Hershey Felder to my Studiolo! Hershey is a brilliant pianist, actor, playwright, and filmmaker known around the world for his portrayals on the theatrical stage of classical and American composers. He is known for “becoming” Puccini, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Gershwin, Berlin, Sholem Aleichem, and so many others. He is already planning his next film, in which he’ll portray Giuseppe Verdi in his film, “The Verdi Fiasco,” taking place at La Fenice during the grand opening of La Traviata (airing March 27, 2022). Hershey and his wife Kim Campbell, former Prime Minister of Canada (so far, the first and only woman to hold that post), felt such a strong connection to Florence that they decided to purchase a Renaissance abode in the hills above the city, which then became their permanent home at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. Ever since then, Hershey has been bringing a unique and extraordinary spotlight to Florence with his live performances, including one that he performed at the Teatro della Pergola. Our Studiolo conversation was a chance to talk about his love of Dante, and his upcoming "Dante and Beatrice in Florence: a Musical Film!" In this intimate and inspiring interview our guest shared some of his favorite behind-the-scenes photographs from the film’s set, and how Florence changed his life. Hershey was very kind to allow me to make this video public. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.
"Dante and Beatrice in Florence: a Musical Film" aired on November 28th, 2021!
